Haven Lin-Kirk Named Dean of USC Roski School of Art and Design

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA—The University of Southern California Roski School of Art and Design has appointed designer and longtime professor Haven Lin-Kirk dean. Lin-Kirk currently serves as the school’s vice dean of design and leads the school’s new design MFA program, which will enroll its first students in fall 2018. Prior to joining USC Roski’s design faculty in 2001, Lin-Kirk held lecturer positions at numerous southern California design schools, including Scripps College; University of California, Los Angeles; and Otis College of Art and Design.

“The enormous creativity and skill I have witness over the years at USC Roski is the foundation and driving force of my professional life, for which I feel privileged,” Lin-Kirk said. “But it requires countless contributions to actualize our students’ potential, and I look forward to engaging with all who are part of this school to continue to elevate the programs and their benefits for our emerging artists in the coming years.”

As dean, Lin-Kirk will oversee Roski’s masters programs in art, design, and curatorial practices and the public sphere, as well as bachelors programs in art and design. Lin-Kirk’s pedagogy emphasizes collaboration between Roski departments and other schools in the university. She holds a BA from California State University, Fullerton and an MFA from Claremont Graduate University. In 2009, she received the National Endowment for the Arts Access to Artistic Excellence grant with USC Roski design students and Ryman Arts.
