Benjamin Chaffee Named Associate Director of Visual Arts at Wesleyan University Center for the Arts

MIDDLETOWN, CONNECTICUT—Wesleyan University’s Center for the Arts has named Benjamin Chaffee associate director of visual arts, the Middletown Press reports. Chaffee graduated from Wesleyan in 2000 with a bachelor of arts in earth and environmental science; he also holds a Master’s degree in sound art from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Since 2012, he has served as director of Chicago’s Corbett vs. Dempsey gallery. His tenure at CFA begins April 2.

“We are thrilled to welcome Benjamin Chaffee to the Center for the arts and back to his alma mater,” Sarah Curran, CFA director said. “We look forward to working on exciting contemporary arts programming at the Ezra and Cecile Zilkha Gallery, collaborating with the College of East Asian Studies at the Mansfield Freeman Center, and connecting with faculty and students across campus.”

Wesleyan’s Center for the Arts houses the university’s undergraduate programs in art and art history, dance, music and theater and its graduate program in music, as well as curated exhibitions and performances.
