QS Publishes Rankings of the World’s Top Art and Design Schools

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM–QS World University Rankings has published its survey of the world’s top university programs in forty-six subjects, including art and design. QS rankings are determined by a school’s academic reputation as determined by surveys with educators and professors, it’s reputation with employers, and the number of citations of research papers by faculty over a five year period. The 2017 rankings are based on data provided by more than 74,000 academics around the world.

The ten top-ranked schools are:

1. Royal College of Art, London
2. Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge
3. Parsons School of Design at The New School, New York
4. Rhode Island School of Design, Providence
5. Pratt Institute, Brooklyn
6. University of the Arts, London
7. Politecnico di Milano, Milan
8. School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago
9. California Institute of the Arts, Valencia
10. Stanford University, Palo Alto
