Martina Henzi, Michael Ray-Von, and Sophia Remer: Along a line

Corona Kino

“For whom or what is navigability optimized?
Your phone is ringing.
Navigation is an interscalar vehicle.
Sever all vectors of relation”

Along a line connects two elements: the spoken text of a geographically ambiguous first-person narrative about a (de)touring expedition with unclear objectives, and a collage of found footage, primarily of the protests against the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis in May 2020. The video ponders the possibilities and obstacles of political movements; their navigation, orientation, and scale in a time of upheaval and revolt; and the search for a way to overcome the rifts of violence and oppression.

Martina Henzi, Michael Ray-Von, and Sophia Remer, Along a line, 2020. HD video, color, and sound, 11 mins 20 secs.
