Mariana Murcia: Mouth teeth and tongues with the wood

Corona Kino

Without physical togetherness, what possibilities for communication exist, besides talking through screens? Mariana Murcia’s Mouth teeth and tongues with the wood poetically explores a way of communicating across vast distances by mixing the deep sounds of alpine horns with the recorded noise of industrial architecture. Industrial tubes and towers become the protagonists in her story, transmitting messages like traditional Swiss horns have for centuries—becoming the “telepathic” channel that connects two people over a long distance.

Mariana Murcia, Mouth teeth and tongues with the wood, 2020. HD video, color, and sound, 5 mins 48 secs.
