Katrin Niedermeier: h.o.m.e.

Corona Kino

h.o.m.e. shows several cloned avatars repeatedly performing restrictive movements in an isolated virtual environment. Based on personal conversations—especially with mothers—during Covid-19 lockdown, the animation refers to the fraught status of today’s working women. Visually and acoustically capturing moments of social and physical isolation, the video illustrates the daily restrictions that make women seem like regressively stereotypical avatars.
