Paul B. Preciado: Every Life Matters: The Work of Lorenza Böttner
• Hold Me Now — Feel and Touch in an Unreal WorldIn “Every Life Matters: The Work of Lorenza Böttner,” Paul B. Preciado explores the work of German-Chilean artist Lorenza Böttner (1959–1994), her disability-rights activism, and her use of photography, performance, drawing, and painting as techniques to produce a dissident embodiment and political subjectivity. Surpassing categories of Abstract Expressionism, figurative painting, and the feminist tradition of performance art, Böttner painted and danced, claiming the right to publicly exist and create in a transgender armless body.
