Carlo Rovelli: Why Physics Needs Philosophy

From The Physics of Nothing

Carlo Rovelli, the international best-selling author of Seven Brief Lessons in Physics, is a pioneer in the field of quantum gravity, the attempt to build a new theory of space and time that is compatible with quantum physics. He is also a deep thinker who has long drawn on the work of philosophers, both ancient and contemporary, in his research. This lecture, which was delivered at the London School of Economics in July 2016, explores what Rovelli sees as the relationship between physics and philosophy. It is as clear and compelling a statement as one could hope for.
