Art, design, and media are indispensable disciplines for research-intensive universities at the forefront of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. They are also rich in history, bequeathing us complex aesthetic, creative, imaginative, and innovative legacies. With Singapore being a cosmopolitan nation with Asian sensibilities, the School of Art, Design and Media (ADM) seeks to play a weighty role in transforming the island state into a global media city. Our interdisciplinary courses are designed to mold creative individuals into outstanding artists, designers, curators, animators, new media performers, entrepreneurs, and business leaders.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
The School of Art, Design and Media’s doctoral programme provides creative research opportunities in a wide spectrum of academic areas. Students are expected and encouraged to develop innovative ways of thinking and to experiment and create in a range of media. This programme also acts as an incubator for the development and realization of original artistic and professional productions, including design, interactive media, film, animation, and new art forms. A collaboration of internationally recognized faculty members, visiting artists, and scholars, offers a unique educational environment that is world-renowned. Creative and production cooperation between faculty and students is encouraged, and the development of worldwide co-production opportunities is fostered. On-going admissions.

Master of Arts (by research)
The MA in Art, Design, and Media offers a creative environment in which students tailor their curriculum to their unique scholarly and creative interests and apply theory to original research. Students develop a critical understanding of the scholarly implications of creativity in a highly digitized culture. There are two options to complete the degree: thesis, or art practice thesis. This research-oriented MA is designed for students who wish to pursue research in specific areas of Art, Design, and Media. The MA has been structured to keep the number of required courses to a minimum so that students’ time and energy can be fully utilized in the research topic of their choice. Students will work under the close supervision of ADM faculty for the duration of their studies. On-going admissions.

Master of Arts in Museum Studies and Curatorial Practices (by coursework)
The MA in Museum Studies and Curatorial Practices has been designed to prepare graduates for professional positions in the highly complex and diverse museum landscape in the region, addressing the ever-expanding field of Contemporary Curating. This requires specific knowledge, experience, and creativity. Thus, this programme places great emphasis on addressing theoretical and practical challenges working with art historians, experienced curators, and experts with local, regional, and international expertise on historical and contemporary art. Singapore’s excellent museum infrastructure and its geographical location allow direct contact with artworks and artists, archives, and artefacts. To finalize their MA program, students can opt for a Master Thesis-track or a ten-week professional internship at museums or art institutions located in Singapore or overseas. Apply by March 15, 2023, for August 2023 intake.
