Applicants should demonstrate an interest in collaborating in different pedagogical configurations.

The Humanities & Sciences (H&S) department at Art Center College of Design (Art Center) operates akin to a small liberal arts college within the one of the most prominent design schools in the world. Beyond offering our students a well-rounded education in both the humanities and sciences, one goal of the H&S department is to highlight the intersections of art and science and how design and engineering are interwoven disciplines. In the last two years, H&S has been expanding its commitment to these values with and new Materials Science minor, transdisciplinary studio courses being developed between science and art faculty, and a new science lab for our students.

For more than 80 years, Art Center has had an international reputation for its rigorous, transdisciplinary curriculum, faculty of professionals, strong ties to industry, and commitment to socially responsible design. We are an independent, nonprofit, four-year college offering a Bachelor of Fine Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in ten specialized programs, and graduate degrees in four art and design disciplines.

Candidates should submit the following application materials: cover letter, CV, three references, and sample syllabus. Upon hire the successful candidate will be required to provide official transcripts. Send application materials to hr [at] and reference “Full-time Fellow, Material Science” in the subject line. Review of submissions will begin on December 1.
