About Transart
We champion self-directed, curious, flexible and independent-minded creative researchers working individually and/or collectively. Our border-free model and reputation attracts a diverse international body of students, faculty and advisors from equally diverse artistic and academic contexts and geographic locations. We are all part of a global, trans-disciplinary research community, creating opportunities to expand, enhance and sustain individual and collective practices in the world, beyond the walls of the traditional academy.

We support research in and on all creative areas, media and topics, with a particular focus on: international diaspora, post-nationalism and post-colonialism; exiled states; peace and mediation; memory and trauma; home, nostalgia and the uncanny; ecology and environmental activism; language and experimental pedagogies; space and temporary architecture; foreignness, otherness; liminal states, interstices, spacetime and the space in-between.

The independent Transart Institute was founded by and has been operated entirely by artists since 2004.

We are currently interested in expanding our portfolio of academic partnerships and programs, and would welcome informal discussions with interested parties—please contact us for further information.
