Karen Finley and Amy Khoshbin will uncover and share creative voter mobilization strategies. Facing an unprecedented Presidential Election shrouded by concerns of voter suppression, how do we make sure everyone who can vote does vote? How do we continue to take our power to the ballot box beyond the Presidential election? You can begin by registering to vote by October 9 here! Join us online on October 1. Together we'll get creative, connect, and take the pledge to VOTE, VOTE AGAIN! Learn how to keep the electoral momentum up into November and forward to local races, like the NY City Council primary (June 2021). Let’s make art act and help each other continue to create the change we want to see.

About
The Civic Engagement Series invites contemporary artists, grassroots organizers, and local electoral candidates into dialogue around pressing sociocultural issues to investigate how our collective imagination can foster progressive change. Through a series of experimental events shaped by the invited artists and the Pratt Fine Arts’ Fellow in Civic Engagement Amy Khoshbin, the CES focuses on the power of taking action at the local level, both at the polls and in the streets. From topics from abolition to mutual aid to ritual healing, the CES uses creative and performative strategies to instigate action within the Pratt community and beyond.

Pratt Institute’s Fine Arts Civic Engagement Fellow is a one (renewable to two) year position for an established artist who is active in collaborative, socially engaged practices that seek to address the social and political realities of communities. The Fellowship fosters interdisciplinary collaboration across the institute and forges relationships with external communities and organizations. In addition to teaching responsibilities in the Fine Arts Department, the fellow will develop programming and/or workshops connecting their practice to internal and external communities.

Pratt Institute is a global leader in art and design, preparing students to make significant contributions to our culture. Pratt’s faculty and alumni include some of the most renowned artists, designers, and scholars in their fields.

Pratt Presents is a curated series of free public programs developed by the Institute that bring you big ideas, bold thinkers, and brilliant dialogue. Please visit pratt.edu for more information about the series.
