The Master of Interior Architecture: Research + Design (MIARD) at Piet Zwart Institute invites qualified candidates to apply for a core staff position as a Thesis Supervisor and tutor of Critical Strategies: Theory & History. The profile of the candidate is one who identifies with—and can push forward—the multi-disciplinary, research-intensive and self-directed approach of the program.

We seek a multidisciplinary practitioner with a strong background in visual studies, architecture or art theory. Candidates should have a recognized practice with a body of published research and writing that contextualizes itself across contemporary notions of cultural production. We are looking for someone who is able to place urgent issues affecting our built environment in relation to expanded ideas of the interior, architecture and design. Moreover, the nature of the course requires a practitioner who is experimental and considers research and writing as an exploratory practice. For this position, it is essential to be able to connect research, theory and practice in a stimulating, critical and engaging manner. The role requires working closely with students and being able to support their own design and research interests.

The Piet Zwart Institute offers a notable professional, progressive and international educational environment. The job involves a high degree of responsibility, contributory influence and the unique opportunity to align your individual practice and research with a broader community of respected professionals and talented students. The post holder reports directly to the Course Director, and she or he would work collaboratively with other core tutors within MIARD’s integrated curriculum structure.

Our international program offers students a master-level, multidisciplinary, design-led research education with a critical and experimental focus on the complex field of Interior Architecture. For more information on the program visit the MIARD Archive and the PZI website.
