HEAD OF ART GALLERIES

The Barbican Centre is seeking to recruit an experienced, innovative and exceptional Head of Art Galleries, who will report to the Artistic Director.

You will lead and manage the galleries team and work creatively with the Centre’s talented and progressive arts programmers across the disciplines.

The galleries are newly renovated and highly regarded; you will be expected to build on the Barbican’s reputation for both visual arts both at home and abroad, develop relationships with artists, peers, galleries and potential partners, to create a focussed programme of high integrity and broad appeal.

You will ideally have a strong track record within the fine arts (both historic and contemporary) as well as an interest in our stated programming strands of photography, architecture, design and the developing world. You will also bring a minimum of eight years curatorial experience and an ability to demonstrate success as a manager with budget, communication and networking skills.
