Thematic Residencies

01 Cosmic Ray Research with Janice Kerbel
Program dates: September 15 – October 31, 2008
Application deadline: May 9, 2008

Over the course of the residency, Kerbel and participants will pose research questions with regards to forms that defy visibility and to the constitution of visual forms in art, extending this inquiry from things experienced physically — such as time, scale, and sound — to that which is experienced abstractly — such as anticipation, causality, wonder, and doubt.

02 Reverse Pedagogy with Paul Butler
Program dates: November 10 – December 05, 2008
Application deadline: May 23, 2008

Paul Butler and participants working in a spectrum of media will eat, play, and attend workshops together for a period of four weeks. Butler wants to enjoy, in the most collaborative of ways, all that The Banff Centre and the surrounding magnificent landscape has to offer. In such a setting Butler imagines the emergence of new artistic possibilities.

Financial assistance is available for Thematic Residencies.
