The presentations will begin with a performance by artist/percussionist Meret Koehler. The thesis projects reflect the multidisciplinary nature of the department, and feature 3D animation, video/motion graphics, interactive media, performance, installation and digital fine art.

Participating artists include Noa Griffel, Anis Haron, Jung Yeob Kim, Justin Miller, Rui Xu, Ihsu Yoon. Using montage in photography, video, and installation, Noa Griffel constructs an immersive surreality for the viewer to experience. Anis Haron is actively involved with music, multimedia, computer-systems and programming. Haron’s works explore the applications and boundaries of indeterminately produced audio in contemporary sound-based performance and installation art. Jungyeob Kim examines the possibilities of different types of relationships between technology and human beings. Expanding his creative repertoire into the realm of 3D computer animation, Justin Miller uses the computer as a way of synthesizing aspects of traditional static art forms into a single mode of expression. Rui Xu’s project shows the beautiful lost world of Dunhuang Mogao Caves in China. Based on the original fresco painting in those caves, this piece uses 3D animation to dynamically rebuild this lost world.

The MFA Computer Art Department emphasizes creative experimentation and a multidisciplinary approach. Dedicated to producing digital artists of the highest caliber, the department guides each student in the development of a personal artistic style and a course of study that is individually tailored to meet his/her needs.
