Guest Curator Margaret Liu Clinton notes of the exhibition that, “No single theme unifies the works presented by this year’s graduating class, yet the array of these individual practices underscores the ongoing influence of the social upon art, and in turn affirms the vital significance of art as a method for producing knowledge within the context of globalizing cultures. Working across the media of painting, video, sculpture, drawing, sound, animation and installation, Parsons Fine Arts MFA students deploy multivalent strategies for producing work that engages the complexities of: place and space, difference and universality, media and culture as well as memory and history.”

“The MFA Thesis Exhibition culminates an exciting year for Parsons Fine Arts. We are very proud of our students and extend a special congratulations to class of 2010 member Tomoe Tsutsumi, who was recently accepted to Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture’s Summer Program,” says MFA Program Director Simone Douglas.
