The Faculty of Art and Design’s School of Visual Arts is seeking a Principal Lecturer to provide academic, pedagogic, and management leadership in the Subject Area of Fine Arts. The postholder will be responsible for having a steering and directional overview, and responsibility for, management and delivery of the fine art subject area which includes undergraduate and post-graduate awards, fine art-related research and knowledge transfer, development of short courses, CPDs, as well as for other forms of third-stream income generation.

The successful candidate will lead on designing, developing and delivering high-quality learning experiences which are informed by current expertise, engagement in enterprise and knowledge transfer, research, and professional practice. The Subject Area Leader will oversee and participate on delivery of the BA (Hons) Fine Art (full and part-time modes) and awards, which include BA (Hons) Fine Art (Curatorial Practice), BA (Hons) Fine Art (Drawing), BA (Hons) Fine Art (Interactive Arts), BA (Hons) Fine Art (Urban and Public Art). In addition, he/she will manage the MA Fine Art.

We are looking for applicants who can draw upon established networks through their significant experience in HE and their proven track record of professional engagement within the discipline in order to develop and drive initiatives in teaching, learning, the curriculum, in research and knowledge transfer, and third-stream income generation.

The successful applicant will have considerable experience in line management of teams as he/she will have oversight of the organisation and administration of awards / courses and management of staff across a range of subject area activities by monitoring performance, and providing coaching and support as required.

Heading up a dynamic team, the postholder will contribute effectively to the strategic direction of the School, Faculty and University.
