Position of full professor (tenured) in

Contemporary Art

at Graz University of Technology/Faculty of Architecture, Institute of Contemporary Art. Expected starting date: 1 October 2014. The university professor will be initially hired under a six-year employment contract according to §98 UG. It is intended to lead to a tenured position following a positive evaluation.

In the scope of architecture studies at Graz University of Technology, art education represents a significant part of the wide range of subjects offered. We are looking for an individual from the field of visual arts who is capable of teaching, motivating, and leading architecture students in the pursuit of artistic design. It is crucial that the artist be able to impart knowledge about movements in contemporary art above and beyond his or her particular speciality. The subject in its entirety is to be represented through both teaching and research. Active involvement in all faculty-related matters is expected.

In order to represent the discipline internationally, excellent English language skills are presupposed. German language skills, or the willingness to acquire proficiency, are expected.

Relocation of residence to the Graz area is mandatory.

Furthermore, we expect:

1. A completed art-related degree from an art college, art university, or art academy (in Austria or an equivalent degree from abroad) or a comparable qualification

2. Outstanding artistic qualification in teaching and research for the subject contemporary art

3. Pedagogical and didactic aptitude (preferably demonstrated through international teaching experience and/or a relevant venia docendi)

4. Leadership experience

5. Relevant subject-specific practice outside the university setting

6. Willingness to participate in university committees and to engage in interfaculty collaboration
