Parsons Paris has launched a new Bachelor of Arts in Art and Design History and Theory. The program, which welcomes its first class in 2015, will provide college students an unparalleled opportunity for immersion in art and design history and studio practice, curatorial and French studies.
“There is only one Paris, and there is only one Parsons—and this exciting program offers students the full educational opportunities of university and design education said Susan Taylor-Leduc, Dean of Parsons Paris. “With its breathtaking cultural patrimony, Paris is the perfect setting to prepare the next generation of art and design scholars with a rigorous liberal arts education.”
The bachelor’s degree in Art and Design History and Theory frames curatorial studies as community engagement, while taking advantage of Paris’s incomparable cultural heritage. The program connects students with the deep institutional relationships Parsons Paris has created over nearly a century as an influential presence in the city’s arts and design scene. Parsons Paris’s partnerships with Musée des Arts Décoratifs and the Centre National des Arts Plastiques will provide students hands-on access to cutting-edge French and global art and design, as well as the historical works and documents necessary to contextualize them.
In their junior year students will also have the opportunity to study in another great center of global culture at the New York campus. In New York, students may take advantage of a range of undergraduate offerings at The New School, with minors ranging from Hispanic Studies to screenwriting to data visualization.
