The CCC Research-based Masters programme develops art practices embedded in the fields of critical theory and cultural studies and transmits curatorial and cybermedia skills as main disseminating media. Research training is at the core of the pedagogical objectives. Scientific research projects are initiated to foster students’ professional developments and relevant artistic inventions. The programme publishes academic papers and research reports in a long-term relationship with its national and international networks.

Type of position: 60–75%

Position description: HES Professor-Coordinator at CCC Research-based Masters programme, Visual Arts Department, Geneva School of Art and Design.

The artistic practice is research-based; encompasses the critical, curatorial, cultural, political and ecological fields; and evinces a commitment to further developing the possibilities of research through art.

The candidate should be competent to lead scientific research (PhD/SNF scientific research projects); he/she should demonstrate expertise in artistic and curatorial studies, understood as a social and critical activation. He/she is expected to provide artistic, conceptual, pedagogical and administrative leadership to the programme. He/she should be committed to reinventing the curriculum while also insuring continuity.

The candidate will cooperate with an adjoint scientifique or a maître d’enseignement and work in conjunction with an international visiting artist every year. He/she will answer to the Geneva School of Art and Design Director and to the Dean of the Visual Arts Department.

Main features of the mission:

Teaching
– Transdisciplinary teaching and co-responsibility for Master program and pre-doctoral
courses
– Development of educational and academic partnerships with other institutions and communities of the civil society
– Collaboration in the creation of MOOCS (Massive Open Online Courses)
– Participation in HEAD academic and administrative meetings

Research
– Conception and realisation of interdisciplinary scientific research projects
– Development of research training through art
– Publication and editing of the research projects on CCC programme website
– Dissemination and valorisation of the research outputs through articles, and peer-reviewed publications; conferences and lectures; and exhibitions at the national and international levels

Administration of CCC programme (in cooperation with an adjoint scientifique or a maître d’enseignement recruited after the selection of the HES Professor)
Overall coordination of CCC programme
– Organisation of the admission and evaluation sessions
– Overall administration and financial follow up of the programme
– Coordination of the editorial board of the CCC newsletter, Actes de recherche, annual activity report and CCC website edition
– Recruitment of assistants and visiting professors
– Follow-up of the students curriculum and evaluations
– Promotion of a long-lasting relationship with the alumni/ae

 

Qualifications and required skills 
The candidate should have a record of teaching experience in one of the CCC programme study fields as well as strong experience in art and/or curatorial practice. He/She should have academic contact with artists and intellectuals as well as with institutions and cutting-edge cultural communities. He/She should participate in interdisciplinary projects and/or publications that demonstrate innovation in the means of documentation and media of dissemination.

He/She must hold a doctoral degree (PhD) or have comparable experience; he/she must demonstrate practice-led research. His/Her curriculum should provide evidence of teaching experience, research projects and contributions to conferences in international contexts including outside the Western world.

He/She should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and good writing skills in French and English. (A third language is an advantage).

The candidate should live or be willing to live in Geneva.
