IESA is proud to announce two scholarship bursaries for its MA courses taught between Paris and London, validated by the University of Warwick (top five, UK)
MA in the History and Business of the Contemporary Art Market
MA in the History and Business of Art and Collecting

I.
The scholarship for the MA in the History and Business of the Contemporary Art Market is based on academic grounds and covers half of the tuition fees of the MA for the two years (overall value 8,100 GBP).

This MA is the only one in the world to include the study of both history of art within the structure of the Art Market today, giving you unrivaled insights from direct encounters with professionals and academics.

II.
The Scholarship for the MA in the History and Business of Art and Collecting is offered in partnership with the Sir John Soane’s Museum. The scholarship covers the full tuition fees of the MA for the two years (overall value 16.400 GBP).

The scholarship is intended for an academically outstanding student with a special interest in the collections of the Soane’s Museum. The Museum’s collections contain many important works, including Hogarth’s A Rake’s Progress and An Election, Canaletto’s Riva degli Schiavoni looking West; 30,000 architectural drawings; 6,857 historical volumes; 252 historical architectural models as well as important examples of furniture and decorative arts.

This MA is designed for students who wish to get a comprehensive understanding of the historical art market from the Renaissance to the early 20th century, as well as a clear vision of how these patterns influence today’s practices in the art market.

About the programmes
Designed for students with a strong interest in working in the art world, these programmes offer a firm grounding in the practice and theory of art markets as well as an understanding of the importance of collectors. At IESA, we keep the works of art at the heart of our teaching: through weekly visits to the major museums, galleries and collections in Paris and London; extended study trips introduce you to the art and players of cities like Berlin, Venice, Basel, Brussels and Florence. Unlike many courses, ours are offered in a boutique environment; with small groups of students and a hands-on personal approach from the teachers. The programmes will give you not just access to information but open up discussions with experts in the field.

Both two–year courses, validated by the University of Warwick and run in association with prestigious institutions such as White Cube, the Wallace collection and the Soane’s Museum, are taught in English between Paris and London. Students are expected to gain invaluable work experience during the summer and often go on during the second year to complement their research with practical knowledge.

Career paths
On completion of the courses, students have found a variety of positions in auction houses, galleries, foundations, museums, insurance and art investment companies, developing consultancies or carrying on research at PhD level. Our associates, teachers and alumni create a network of contacts that can be pivotal for developing a career in the art world and introduce you to a wide range of experts in Paris, London and other major centers.

About IESA
