From fall 2015 through spring 2016, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) is celebrating its 150th year as a leader in educating the world’s most influential artists, designers, and scholars. Founded as the Chicago Academy of Design in 1866 by a collective of studio artists, SAIC has evolved from a small gallery and school to a world-class art museum and one of the largest accredited colleges of art and design in the country, providing undergraduate, graduate, and post-baccalaureate programs to more than 3,500 students. Throughout its 150-year history, SAIC has redefined the cultural landscape and influenced contemporary art and design throughout the world.
