SNC’s MFA-IA winter priority deadline is quickly approaching. January 3–12 will mark the second residency of our new low-residency MFA program in Interdisciplinary Arts at Sierra Nevada College. With open enrollment already begun, we are excited to invite prospective students to join our growing community of artists and thinkers. As SNC allows for rolling admissions, regardless of the semester in which students enter, they will complete their MFA in five consecutive residencies.

The new low-res MFA-IA consists of two intensive 10-day on-campus residencies during summer and winter sessions over the course of 2.5 years. During the fall and spring semesters, students will work in their home studios and continue relationships with faculty mentors and fellow colleagues via online communication modes such as email exchange, online seminars, blog contributions and other social media.

Our inaugural MFA-IA Residency this past August was a huge success. With students participating from six different states and coming from a variety of backgrounds and media specification, a vital and compelling cross-disciplinary community has begun to form. Faculty for the MFA-IA program will continue to include a rotating list of prestigious Visiting Artist Faculty, made up of working artists and teachers from across the country as well as current members of the SNC-Fine Arts Faculty. The Visiting Faculty members for the summer 2015 residency were: Matt Freedman, Christine Heindl and Peter Rostovsky.
