Graduate National Portfolio Day & Open House

Kickstart your creative future at SFAI’s weekend of graduate admissions events leading up to the Graduate National Portfolio Day (GNPD). Highlights include a tech-inspired artists’ roundtable, tours of graduate studios, and the GNPD itself—a unique opportunity to receive individualized admissions advice from institutions nationwide specializing in art, design, and architecture.

Friday, October 30
“Tech or Treat?” Roundtable + Happy Hour
800 Chestnut Street, 6–9pm

SFAI faculty scholars and artists explore the zeitgeist of art and tech in the Bay Area and beyond in a discussion moderated by Sampada Aranke (Interim MA Chair and Assistant Professor of History and Theory of Contemporary Art). Panelists include Johnna Arnold (Visiting Faculty; artist, educator, and urban farmer), Ian Alan Paul (Dual Degree, 2011 and PhD candidate at UC Santa Cruz), Lasse Scherffig (Assistant Professor of Art and Technology),and Meredith Tromble (Associate Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies). A casual reception follows.

Graduate National Portfolio Day (GNPD) + Info Fair
800 Chestnut Street, 12–4pm

GNPDs are lively events designed for students seeking to advance their education at the graduate level in the fields of art, design, and architecture. Prospective MFA, March, and MA students are invited to receive critical feedback on their portfolios for admission to graduate programs, connect with faculty, explore the curricula of participating schools, learn about the application process, and obtain valuable information on schools’ programs and communities.
