Senior Lecturer in Photography

The Division of Art in the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University (SMU) invites nominations and applications for a Senior Lecturer in Photography, commencing August 2016.

Minimum qualifications: Must possess an MFA in art with concentration or equivalent in photography, a record of exhibitions as an artist, and experience teaching at the university level. Must also be proficient in both black-and-white darkroom techniques and digital photographic processes.

Preferred qualifications: An understanding of contemporary art and theory and the history of photography; a demonstration of an artistic practice and/or teaching that integrates photography with any of the following areas: film/video, sculpture, installation, or printmaking.

–Letter of application highlighting the candidate’s accomplishments
–Artist statement describing the artist’s work in relation to historical and contemporary photographic practices
–Three letters of recommendation
–20 images

Applications are due by January 15. The committee will continue to accept applications until the position is filled. Hiring is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of a background check.
