With a 130-year history and origins as the Hornsey College of Art, the School of Art and Design at Middlesex University is renowned for its progressive approach to art and design education and research, and has been home to some of the finest artists, designers and critical thinkers in the UK.

From visual arts to fashion, and from interiors to pioneering theoretical studies, our research inspires and influences. 100% of our research impact was ranked as “world leading” or “internationally excellent” in the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014, and we were placed in the top 20 art and design institutions in the UK for research output and power.

Our current community of more than 40 postgraduate research students continues our long tradition of ambitious exploration into lasting solutions for real-world issues.
