Parsons School of Design invites applicants for two renewable term, full-time faculty positions in the School of Design Strategies:
Assistant Professor of Integrated Design
Candidates must be able to demonstrate expertise in the practice and teaching of design, integrating experience in one or more of the following areas: sustainable systems and services; emerging markets and alternative business strategies; working with artisan and maker communities locally and globally; and innovative and sustainable models for production, distribution and consumption. Candidates should demonstrate a transdisciplinary approach using methods such as iterative prototyping, digital fabrication and critical making, while engaging in real world contexts. Candidates with experience in the following design areas are strongly encouraged to apply: wearable technologies; and theory of the body, garment, and/or fashion systems, with sensitivity toward participatory and co-design that factors in experience in other social and political concerns.
Associate and/or Assistant Professor of Strategic Design and Management
Candidates must be able to demonstrate expertise in the practice and theory of strategic management in the context of design-driven businesses, with preference being given to applicants with innovative research, doctoral-level work or significant professional experience in one or more of the following areas: innovation, entrepreneurship, business modeling and planning, organizational theory, or business strategy, particularly as these areas bear on challenges and opportunities of the design professions or creative industries.
