The BBVA Bancomer Foundation and the Carrillo Gil Art Museum renew their commitment to promote the training and practice of visual artists in Mexico by releasing the call to the 5th edition of the Bancomer-MACG Program.

On this edition, up to ten artists (between the ages of 23 to 35) currently working in the Mexican Republic in one or more of the following criteria: painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, sculpture, installation, video, performance, digital art and animation will be supported. The call is public and will be open online at the Foundation’s web at www.fundacionbbvabancomer.org from June 1 through July 15, 2016.

Once the call is closed, an international jury will pre-select candidates who will later be interviewed individually and in person. During the interviews, the artists will have the opportunity to expose and explain their work to deepen into how they will develop their specific project with the grant support. After this pre-selection stage, the jury will select a maximum of ten artists to win the grant of the 5th edition of the Bancomer-MACG Program.

Gabriela Velásquez Robinson, head of Cultural Promotion for the BBVA Bancomer Foundation, commented: “From the beginning of the program in 2008, the BBVA Bancomer Foundation as well as the Carrillo Gil Art Museum have joined efforts to generate a multidisciplinary project that mainly eases an open space for discussion, where the artists may reformulate their work methods, question their search for new aesthetics and overall to pursue methods of production that are in agreement with their artistic concerns.”

Vania Rojas, director of the Carrillo Gil Art Museum added: “Furthermore, we also look to bring a larger number of applicants from all the states, surpassing the amount of participants from the four previous editions.”

Applicants can consult the rules, bases and information on the following web sites:

Results will be announced on August 29, 2016.
