Umeå University was founded in 1965 and is Sweden's fifth oldest university. Today, we have a strong international and multicultural presence with students, teachers and researchers from all over the world. Our main campus - with its 36,700 students and over 4,000 employees - is alive with enthusiasm, creativity and fresh ideas. We constantly strive towards making it one of Scandinavia's best environments for study and research that meets the challenges of an ever-increasing global society. The inquisitiveness of human beings and their quest for new knowledge knows no bounds. The same is true of what we do at Umeå University. Every day, students, lecturers and researchers from all over the world communicate with one another - either face to face or using modern technology. Development of the range of programmes on offer is a must if we are to meet new needs in a changing world. Umeå University has an organization and a management that promote the satisfaction and desire for development of both students and staff!
