Each summer, the School of the Arts in partnership with the School of Professional Studies welcomes students of all ages and levels of artistic experience to Columbia’s campus in New York City.

Our acclaimed faculty have designed a comprehensive summer program aimed at stimulating the imaginations and developing the skill sets of emerging artists. This list includes courses that are designed to offer students an introduction to a specific skill set or medium—Basic Drawing, Painting I, Intro to Darkroom Photography, Intro to Digital Photography, and Silkscreen.

Other courses in Film, Theatre, and Writing will also be offered this summer. For those interested in taking more than one course this summer, the new Arts and Culture in NYC Focus Area will include exclusive co-curriculars, a certification of participation, and opportunities for on-campus housing and work-based stipends. For more information and to apply, visit our Summer Programs website

Admissions to summer programs at the School of the Arts are open to all who want to study with us. The application is fast and easy and neither a transcript nor a BA is required.
