Stockholm University of the Arts announces doctoral positions in performative and mediated practices—with a specialisation in choreography, film and media, opera or performing arts.

Stockholm University of the Arts
Stockholm University of the Arts (Uniarts) is a leading arena for innovative, exploratory education and artistic research. We offer Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes as well as postgraduate education in circus, dance, film, media, opera and performing arts. Artistic research is a central focus, extending knowledge boundaries within the artistic disciplines and constituting a dynamic force for the progress of art and its impact on social development.

Overview
The doctoral candidate position consists of four years of full-time study. The studies at doctoral level include a documented artistic research project and a course section. The project’s content and focus is developed in consultation with two supervisors. The education includes both compulsory and elective courses.

The application should be written in Swedish or English and be uploaded digitally. We only accept applications that have been submitted through the website´s digital application system.

There are several steps in the admission process. The first selection will be made based on material submitted in the applications. After a second selection, a number of applicants will be invited to attend interviews planned for May 2018. Successful applicants will start January 2019.

Employment
To join a doctoral programme means developing an artistic research project of high quality which is expected to contribute to the development of new knowledge and deepen and/or challenge existing practices within the artistic field. As a doctoral candidate you will work in a transdisciplinary environment where focus is on the artistic processes.

As a doctoral candidate you will be employed by Uniarts. We consider it important that you—as a doctoral candidate—are physically present in the research environment at the university. This requires a residence in the Stockholm area. In addition to your own research you are expected to regularly participate in other activities at the university, and also perform departmental duties, such as teaching, at one of the university departments.
