Two positions available in the Visual Arts program at Columbia University School of the Arts.

These positions can be filled either at the rank of Assistant Professor of Visual Arts (tenure-track research faculty) or Assistant Professor of Professional Practice of Visual Arts (practice faculty).

Painting position
The program seeks applicants with a vibrant painting practice and teaching experience. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to engage with all students in the MFA program regardless of medium, and be conversant in critical issues and theoretic discussions in the art world.

Open Genre position
The Program seeks faculty with a vibrant studio practice, working in any medium or across mediums, and teaching experience. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to engage with all students in the MFA program regardless of medium, and be conversant in critical issues and theoretic discussions in the art world.

For both positions, teaching at graduate and undergraduate levels is expected, in addition to active participation in departmental committees. The successful candidates must be capable of service and leadership in the program and must demonstrate the potential for vision and direction that would be appropriate to a director of undergraduate or graduate studies or a program chair for Visual Arts. The successful candidates would serve rotating terms in one or more of these capacities in the future.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; Master’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Salary commensurate with experience.

For both searches, the review of applications will begin January 5, 2015 and will continue until the positions are filled. To ensure full consideration, applications should be submitted by January 5.

The School is especially interested in qualified candidates whose record of achievement will contribute to the diversity goals of the institution.

All applications must be submitted online. For more information and to apply, please visit our online sites:
