This is a two-year, full time Masters with three days of classes per week. The schedule includes internships and field trips to Europe, Latin America and Asia.

MA Narrative Environments is a unique postgraduate programme focused on the connection between people and place and the stories in between. We encourage experimental and critical approaches so students clarify their own positions confidently as creative practitioners. Students define their future careers in either the commercial or cultural industries or hone their scholarly skills in preparation for PhD research.

Our students invent new kinds of visitor experiences—from exhibitions and brand engagements to urban interventions—using socially engaged design and applying narrative theory in a spatial context. We invite students to immerse themselves in topical debates and dilemmas and respond with work that challenges convention.

Throughout the programme students benefit from the surroundings of a multi-disciplinary art and design school working with their peers in small but diverse teams of architects, spatial designers, communication designers, interaction designers, scenographers, service designers, writers and curators.

The programme has nurtured strong and beneficial links with industry. These relationships support our enthusiasm for turning theoretical projects into reality. Our industry affiliations include forward-thinking multinationals such as Google and the world famous British Museum, but the programme also works closely with small, local, dynamic design companies pushing the frontiers of experience design. Students meet, and work with, inspirational practitioners from across the discipline and in addition we coordinate individual mentors from the creative industries. We are eager for our students to benefit from the programme’s network of alumni throughout the world, not only through advice and support but also employment opportunities.
