APPLICATION SCHEDULE: between September 15th and October 15th, 2010

Conception:
A transverse and multidisciplinary approach is an essential aspect of the 2nd and 3rd study cycles which lead up to the Doctorate degree (Ph.D.) and Master degree in Visual Arts. The thesis can be either only theoretical or both theoretical and practical, with the execution of creative works. The main aims of the programme is to create a specialized academic space dedicated to thought, theory and creation, on Art and Design, and their strict relationship with the use of new technologies and the world of science.

The advances in technology have had relevant consequences to artistic expression. Technologies, gradually assimilated by art, have not only found their way into artistic language and production, but also in the work’s aesthetics. From these transformations emerge new fields of knowledge characterized by multiple disciplines, whether they are in a theoretical or creative production point of view. The research branches offered in this programme are founded on this basis.

The programme is taught in Portuguese and English.
