2013 Arts Abroad: Design and Culinary Arts Programs
School of Visual Arts (SVA)
France and Italy
Creativity is about more than making—it’s about exploration and contemplation as well. For over 30 years, SVA has offered a range of programs designed to engage and inspire students, educators, and professionals, providing them the opportunity to travel, experience other cultures, and renew their passions. Enroll in one of our design or culinary arts programs, see the world, and be inspired.

Exploring the Culinary Arts on the Italian Riviera
Faculty: David Downie and Alison Harris
Discover the cuisine and landscape of Liguria, home to some of Italy’s best-loved foods, like focaccia, pesto, and ravioli. Visit fishing villages, markets, and trattorias, meeting artisans who keep the country’s culinary traditions alive.
Food Design in France
Faculty: Emilie Baltz
Study in the kitchens of Ecole Supérieure d’Art et de Design de Reims, in France’s Champagne province, where you can explore how ingredients, taste, and service influence our experiences with food. The program also includes trips to nearby distilleries, vineyards, farms and producers.
