Christina Landbrecht Named Program Director for Art at Berlin’s Schering Foundation

BERLIN, GERMANY—The Ernst Schering Foundation has named Christina Landbrecht Program Director for Art, Monopol reports. Prior to her appointment, Landbrecht worked in the curatorial department and director’s office of the Berlinische Galerie. She is currently pursuing a doctorate from Humboldt University on artistic research that employs scientific methods and the influence of nature on contemporary art.

Landbrecht has previously collaborated with the Schering Foundation on the exhibition Open Lab “Irreversible Moment”, with artist Jenny Brockmann, and Susanne Kriemann: Pitchblende (Chapter 1). With Valérie Chartrain, Nele Heinevetter, Stefanie Gerke, Katharina Beckmann, Fiona Shipwright, Miram Stoney, and Rosario Talevi, Landbrecht insitiuted L’Espace Feminin, an initiative that supports women’s roles in the future of architecture.

The Ernst Schering Foundation is an independent and charitable organization founded in 2002 by Schering AG that supports projects in the fields of science and culture. In arts and culture, the foundation focuses on contemporary fine and visual arts, including dance and music. Every two years, the Schering Foundation Art Award, given in cooperation with KW Institute for Contemporary Art, honors an international artist for his or her work in the field. In 2016, the award was given to Iraqi artist Hiwa K.
