The Institute of Cultural Policy, founded in 1998, focuses its work on the representatives, content, and structures of cultural policies, arts management, and arts education in Germany and international contexts. It is a part of arts and cultural studies at University of Hildesheim. The close relation to the Departments of Fine Arts, Music, Theatre, Literature, Popular Culture, Media and Philosophy at the University enables us to teach and research areas of cultural policy and management that take account of the audience and are also appropriate to the arts. The Institute of Cultural Policy embraces a concept of culture that is on the one hand focused on the theory and practice of the arts and on the other hand on the sociological, educational, political, and economic effects of artistic and creative processes in society. The UNESCO Chair "Cultural Policy for the Arts in Development" is a part of the Institute since 2012. More information about the Institute appears in the yearly in-house publication "Kultur.Politik.Diskurs. Aus Lehre und Forschung des Instituts für Kulturpolitik der Universität Hildesheim“, a bilingual version of which has been published since 2018.
