Walid Raad: Artist Talk

From In Search of a Recuperative Aesthetics

Walid Raad uses the globalized art world as a context to for exploringe representations of cultural trauma and collective history, and the way that film, video, photography, and objects function as documents of physical and psychological violence. Raad sometimes works under the guise of The Atlas Group, a parafictional organization that researches and documents the contemporary history of Lebanon. His work often uses the aesthetics of archival research and academic lectures, which Raad discusses in this talk hosted by the Walker Art Center in 2007.
