Adam Pendleton, Ralph Lemon, and Triple Canopy: Neither Here nor Now

From A tear forms along the seam

In this conversation, artists Ralph Lemon and Adam Pendleton develop a dialogue with each other and with Lizzie Feidelson around the publication On Value (2016), co-edited by Lemon with publisher Triple Canopy and Feidelson as associate editor. Hosted by The Studio Museum in Harlem as part of their Studio Salon series, On Value emerged from Value Talks, a series of invitation-only events organized by Ralph Lemon at the Museum of Modern Art between 2013 and 2014. Taking different titles and moving between three different platforms, the project’s mutability engaged the multiple discursive roles in and around institutions that both performance and publications are invited to occupy. Lemon and Pendleton address the assignment of value by institutions; the relationship between live performance and published material, including the role of preservation and documentation; the need to write out of necessity; and the opportunity to create containers.
