For October 1, 2022, the Braunschweig University of Art is seeking candidates for the Institute of Fine Arts W3 Professorship Fine Arts specialising in Sculpture. The successful candidate will be appointed on a lifelong civil servant or permanent employment basis.

We are seeking artists who, with their work of international standing, make a considerable contribution to contemporary art and are able to represent the field of sculpture in a diverse manner.

Duties
Experimental, conceptually and content-orientated artistic work with a wide range of sculptural forms of expression and material and media dimensions. Teaching with a focus on the diversity of contemporary sculptural work processes. Guide students to enable them to develop their own independent artistic work and the ability to reflect and position this within the context of current artistic questioning and discourse. Impart artistic questions and processes as well as a reflection of the self-conception as an artist. Impart a broad knowledge of the current art world and events (e.g., through festival, exhibition and studio visits) with a focus on the medium of sculpture. Ability to assume offices and roles within the framework of academic self-government as well as the development of the HBK Braunschweig as a university. Regular and active participation in the various commissions of the HBK for example acceptance processes, funding programmes and Meisterschüler (master student) programmes. The university provides a studio for the research and development of the successful candidate’s own artistic work. It is also expected that the successful candidate will raise the profile of the subject by participating in contemporary artistic discourse as well as through own exhibitions and exhibition involvement, catalogues, lectures, symposia etc
