Doctoral School

The Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wroclaw offers top of the range art and design education on three levels—Bachelor, Master and PhD. We are a state university and we educate students on full time and part time basis in five faculties: Faculty Painting, Faculty of Sculpture and Art Mediation, Faculty of Interior Architecture, Design and Stage Design, Faculty of Ceramics and Glass and Faculty of Graphics and Media Art. Our main building is located in the historical part of Wroclaw and the new building—The Centre of Applied Arts and Innovation—is a state of art building with ultra-modern studios and facilities.

In the academic year 2021/22 we offer two programmes conducted in English: Doctoral School research programme and MFA in Visual Arts study programme.

Doctoral School of the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław
The Doctoral School of the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław is an artisctic and research unit, educating people with significant artistic achievements and high research potential. The education lasting 6 semesters prepares for obtaning PhD degree in in the discipline of fine arts and art conservation. 

Education in English
All group classes (lectures, workshops, classes) at the Doctoral Schoool of The Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Art and Design in Wroclaw are conducted exclusively in English. Therefore, candidates are expected to formally certify their knowledge of this language at least on B2 level.

Importance of postgraduates in the Academy’s evaluation process
The achievements of all participants of the Doctoral School are taken into account in the process of evaluation of the entire Academy. The result of the evaluation depends directly on the amount of subsidies (financial resources received annually) and the academic category that the Academy receives (only universities with the B + or higher category have the qualifications for conferring the degree of PhD and doctor habilitated).

MFA in Visual Arts is a 2-year (4 semesters), interdisciplinary study programme, where students can choose as a major, one of the fields of study we currently offer. Each student will be able to develop their knowledge and artistic skills in their own pace, making use of expertise of our teachers and state of art facilities of the academy. In the summer semester students take part in a 10-day outdoor workshop.

Tuition fee: 4000 EUR per year + 150 PLN ( or 35 EUR) the recruitment fee
