The School for the Contemporary Arts (SCA) at Simon Fraser University invites applications for three tenure-track positions at the Assistant Professor level in Visual Art, Performance Creation, and Experimental Composition.

Our preference for the Visual Art position is for candidates with Indigenous cultural knowledge, interested in the intersection of Indigenous knowledge and visual art/contemporary art and pedagogy. A demonstrable history of community participation, experience working closely with First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities and organizations are attributes that will strengthen the application.

For the Performance Creation position, we are seeking theatre directors with demonstrated expertise in contemporary performance practices in one or more of the following areas: devised theatre, non-traditional performance creation, Indigenous Performance, or intercultural performance. The successful candidate should have significant experience working collaboratively in performance creation. Preference will be given to applicants who embrace expanded notions of performance, such as: devised theatre, immersive or site-specific performance, land-based practices, post-internet creative strategies, post-dramatic theatre, transmedia storytelling, or design-led creation.

For the Experimental Composition position, we are seeking an experimental composer with a hybrid practice in two or more of the following: instrumental music, live electronics, improvisation, interactivity, maker culture, sound art, and popular music, within an established interdisciplinary and collaborative practice.
