ELIA announces the ELIA Academy 2019: What’s going on Here? Decoding Digitality in Higher Arts Education, taking place in Stuttgart, Germany from September 25–27, 2019.

This year’s ELIA Academy is co-hosted by Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design, and State University of Music and the Performing Arts Stuttgart. The Academy showcases teaching and learning in higher arts education and brings together lecturers and students from across Europe and beyond.

The theme of the ELIA Academy 2019 is digitality in higher arts education. Digitalisation shapes approaches to teaching and offers numerous challenges and opportunities across all artistic disciplines. Many students (and teachers) are embracing new forms of digital arts and digital practices; these new, blended practices extend conceptions of creativity. The conference opens up as a creative space for debate, analysis and reflection on this challenging topic.

The three-day programme will feature inspiring keynote speeches, interactive presentations, discussions, networking activities and the chance to explore the host city and host institutions. Review the programme here.

This year the ELIA Academy will be taking place in conjunction with the following event:

Challenges of Doctoral Supervision
September 24–25, 2019
Stuttgart, Germany

Challenges of Doctoral Supervision is the first event organised in the frame of the Erasmus Plus Strategic Partnership Project Advancing Supervision for Artistic Research Doctorates.

Begin your professional trip to Stuttgart by participating at the two-day international meeting, focusing on doctoral supervision in the arts, which will take place at the State University of Music and the Performing Arts Stuttgart.

Advancing Supervision for Artistic Research Doctorates produces intellectual ready-to-use outputs for those involved in doctoral supervision across all artistic disciplines. The event Challenges of Doctoral Supervision sets the bases of the first project phase Setting the framework, and focuses on two strands of the debate:
–Mind Mapping Supervision
–Ethics in Art, Ethics in Supervision, Ethics in Artistic Research

Thanks to the cooperation with ELIA and the project partners, this event aims to attract a wide group of stakeholders from the higher arts education sector; particularly students, supervisors, university leaders, and policymakers. Everyone is welcome to join the discussion around the questions on doctoral supervision.

More info on the programme can be found here, and click here to register.

Delegates are invited to join both events in Stuttgart.
