Taking inspiration from Kochi-Muziris Biennale (India), Staff and students from Winchester School of Art (University of Southampton) present a week-long programme at Tate Modern, exploring contemporary biennale practices and debates.

Key events include:

Drawing Together (Friday, May 11)
Exploring "performance" within contemporary exhibition structures, the afternoon features participatory performances with calligraphy artist Zhang Qiang, who will also be in residence throughout the week.

The Ideal Spectator: Open Auditions (Saturday, May 12)
Devised by theatre director Zuleikha Chaudhari, and joined by Sudarshan Shetty, participants will be invited to "audition" as ideal spectators. The dialogues will be broadcast live within Tate, turning our gaze upon spectatorship itself.

Imagined Biennales (Sunday, May 13)
A specially curated forum will look to the future(s) of contemporary art exhibition. Short talks by diverse range of speakers will prompt rich debate, engaging all those attending. Concurrently, Reena Kallat will offer a new, participatory work, and the afternoon concludes with a live-streamed Q&A with Anita Dube, curator of the upcoming edition of the Kochi Biennale 2018.
