We are excited to announce our winter residency program in Mexico City from January 5 to 14, 2018: Transart Winter Residency 2018.

Call for ideas and artworks
The planet seems to grow as we become entangled with each other and so too our understanding of limits, boundaries, borders and edges. They emerge in various ways and mean different things for each of us. We want to open up a discussion, hear your opinions and find how they might overlap, exclude, include, intersect and mingle.This is an invitation to re-configure, re-draw, re-imagine, re-think and re-discover the ways in which we consider limits and boundaries, to disentangle rigid borders and challenge assumptions.
What if our boundaries have been misplaced? How do we ground them?
How do we respond to them? How do we share the planet? Can we nest instead of settle?
Your participation can take various forms but we encourage creativity in concept, form and delivery. It doesn’t matter if you’re an artist, scientist, geographer, humanist, philosopher, researcher; we are eager to hear your ideas.
The symposium, exhibition and two days of screenings will take place at Casa Maauad in Mexico City on January 13 to 14, 2018 and will culminate with an issue of ELSE Journal.

Forms of participation
Ideas and artworks: Share your ideas with us and be creative in concept, form and delivery.
Videos: Single channel videos on boundaries and limits lasting no more than 15 minutes. A selection of these videos will be screened on the evening of January 13.
Blackboards: 15 minute presentation—using a blackboard in remembrance of Joseph Beuys’ blackboard pieces and his famous quote “Jeder Mensch ist ein Künstler” (every man is an artist)—explaining limits, borders, edges and boundaries within the context of your practice, field of study, work or experience. In consequence, the result of your participation will be a piece of artwork and an enduring research connected to Space-Time Entanglements and not limited to the symposium which will hopefully attract many scientists, artists, philosophers, humanists, etc.
Keynotes and speakers
Professor Dr. James Arvanitakis, Dean, Graduate Research School, Western Sydney University, member: Institute for Culture and Society, chair: Diversity Arts Australia, board member: Public Education Foundation, academic fellow: Australia India Institute, and fellow: Centre for Policy Development.
Cultural producer Tania Aedo has a long trajectory in the development of projects from the intersections of knowledge, especially art, science and technology. Since 2007 she is the director of Laboratorio Arte Alameda and she is former director of Centro Multimedia at the National Center for the Arts in México.
Teddy Cruz and Fonna Forman are directors of the UCSD Cross-Border Initiative and are Principles at Estudio Teddy Cruz + Forman, a research-based political and architectural practice in San Diego. Their work emphasizes urban conflict and informality as sites of intervention for rethinking public policy and civic infrastructure, with a special emphasis on Latin American cities. TBC
Juan Pablo de la Vega Castañeda (b. 1986, Mexico City) received his Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México and his Diploma in Photography from Academia de Artes Visuales. Later on he studied a Master of Arts in Interactive Media: Critical Theory and Practice at Goldsmiths College, London.
