Professor of Illustration

Konstfack is looking for a professor in the subject of illustration to the Department of Graphic Design and Illustration. The department employs two part-time professors, one in graphic design and one in illustration. The appointment begins June 2007 and is for 5 years after which at most an additional 5 year period can be considered.

Early deadline. The application must arrive no later than January 18, 2007, at Konstfack. It is possible to supplement the application until January 24, 2007.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Qualification requirements and bases for assessment

Applicants need to have a proven artistic and pedagogical proficiency along with the knowledge, experience and general ability to carry out needed tasks.

Bases for assessment are, in priority order:

-well documented professional works of a current and innovative character, and proficiency within the subject area

-very good theoretical knowledge within the subject

-very good qualities of leadership with an ability to set visions and goals and to inspire students and staff

-documented pedagogical competence and experience in supervising

-organisational, administrative and cooperative ability.

The applicant should also posses

-ability to develop, lead and carry out high quality teaching and research/artistic development

-ability to cooperate with society, to inform about research and development work and to take part in public debates about the subject area, nationally and internationally

-good expressional command of written and spoken Swedish and/or English

-knowledge in digital media

-consciousness in matters relating to genus, class and ethnicity.

Qualifying is also

-knowledge in languages other than English.

-short description of artistic work

-short description of pedagogical experience

-list of qualifications, confirmed by attested copies of exam certificates and other documents

-a letter of intent of how the applicant envisages the task of being part of the artistic leadership at the department, with ideas and visions about the subject, the subject content, pedagogic and research/artistic development work,

and four copies of

-a representative selection of own works (10-15)
