Transart Institute proudly announces the opening of their Master of Fine Arts in New Media thesis exhibition. Seventeen students working in a wide range of media including architecture, digital and experimental media, illustration, installation, painting, performance, photography, sculpture, sound, and video will present their art.

This international Master of Fine Arts program is intended to lift the boundaries between applied and fine arts, traditional and new media, artists and scholars. Students are free to pursue work in any media art-related genre and to create their own course of study.

Payphone Memorial Public pay phones diminish by the week. The artist celebrates “a good piece of public inventory before its too late” with instant souvenir photographs at bannered payphones around the O.K Center “free of charge”. Pause for Strawberries is a 20 minute documentary-fiction about finding peace in simple things. With a candid look at the grieving process, this video shines light on the intimate moments of the process. Thesis film by Jenny Hansen. O.K Centrum, July 13, 20:00.

San Keller, artist talk. O.K Centrum, July 15, 18:00.

Next Slide is a 30-minute new media performance combining digital texting, vintage 35mm slides, recorded voice, music, and live movement to explore the relationship of documentation to memory and self-identity over disjunct time. Thesis performance by Tim Halloran. LKZ, July 18, 21:00.

Bewernitz + Goldowski, artist talk. O.K Centrum, July 19, 18:00.

Contemporaneity of the Archive is the topic of a panel discussion with Geoff Cox, Claire Daigle, Aaron Levy, Wolfgang Suetzl, Thomas Zummer and Dieter Daniels. O.K Centrum, July 21, 17:00-19:00.

Current project presentations and discussion with Gebhard Sengmueller, Lynn Book, Jean Marie Casbarian, and Marji Vecchio, O.K Centrum, July 26, 17:00.

New Icelander is an investigation into the lives of the first Icelandic immigrants to Canada. In this new multimedia performance Ms. Olafson draws parallels between the cross-cultural experiences of her 19th century ancestors and her own present-day identity. Thesis performance by Freya Olafson. LKZ, July 26, 20:00.
