On November 11, 2011, starting at 8 p.m. (and ending at exactly 11:11 p.m.), all are invited to an evening of readings by distinguished writers and poets celebrating Eleven Eleven, a journal of literature and art published by the MFA Program in Writing at California College of the Arts (CCA). Writers, artists, and staff from each of Eleven Eleven‘s eleven previous issues will be present. The event is open to the public and will take place in Timken Lecture Hall on CCA’s San Francisco campus, 1111 Eighth Street.

Writers scheduled to read will include Teresa Walsh, Hugh Behm-Steinberg, Jessica Wickens, Rusty Morrison, Terry Bisson, Richard Silberg, Kaya Oakes, Oscar Bermeo, Hilton Obenzinger, Amaud Jamaul Johnson, and Dana Teen Lomax.

Founded in 2004 by MFA writing students Youmna Chlala and Gayle Romasanta, Eleven Eleven is a biannual journal, publishing an online issue each winter (www.elevenelevenjournal.com) and a print issue each summer. It is edited by graduate students enrolled in the Eleven Eleven course under the direction of faculty editor Hugh Behm-Steinberg, and it features local, national, and international writers and artists, both emerging and established. Recently featured writers and artists include Alfred Arteaga, Blake Butler, Jan Zwicky, Alain de Botton, Laynie Browne, Craig Santos Perez, Nicolás Guillén, Leena Krohn, Charles Browning, Dan Beachy-Quick, EM Lewis, Anita Nair, Rae Armantrout, Ariel Dorfman, Polixeni Papapetrou, Kristin Eiriksdottir, Tracy K. Smith, Ruth Tabancay, Joan Aiken, Naoka Awa and Mary Ruefle, among many others. Work from Eleven Eleven has been selected for the Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net Anthologies.

The readings will be followed by a folly of tasty tidbits and beverages.
