Book Arts / Printmaking at The University of the Arts In Philadelphia

University of the Arts Philadelphia

The book is a complex, hybrid medium situated in the larger context of contemporary art. One of the defining features of the University of the Arts MFA Book Arts/Printmaking program is the breadth and depth of the possibilities available to our students, in the heart of a culturally rich and vibrant city.

Courses across the art and design spectrum, along with the internships available with print shops, practicing artists, non-profit arts organizations, and book and paper conservation laboratories, are integral components of the student experience. Our ideal location offers access to world-class museums, galleries, studios, and special collections available nowhere else.

For more information, visit the University of the Arts’ Book Arts/Printmaking website.
The Book Arts/Printmaking program at the University of the Arts offers students their own studio work spaces, a fully equipped graduate bindery, print and papermaking studios, as well as a film and digital imaging lab.
Graduate Fellowships are available.

Apply now to join the University’s community of artists and performers for fall 2012.

ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY OF THE ARTS GRADUATE PROGRAMS
At the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, graduate degree and post baccalaureate programs offer visual artists, educators, designers, and museum professionals the opportunity to expand their creative boundaries, learn from accomplished faculty, and prepare for professional careers in the arts, all within the dynamic cultural landscape of Center City Philadelphia—second only to Manhattan in the number of downtown cultural organizations.

Students come from a variety of backgrounds and countries, and learn in a wide range of studio, lecture, seminar, internship and field settings, challenged on a daily basis in preparation for real-world encounters. Skills like critical thinking, entrepreneurship and teamwork are emphasized across all disciplines.

UArts’ faculty members and visiting artists are all working professionals, leaders in the fields they are teaching, ready to discuss current trends and topics with students. Low student-to-faculty ratios allow professors to have a close relationship with their students, mentoring and nurturing them so that they can define their goals and prepare for success in their chosen fields.
